Overview

To ensure effective material planning and inventory control by aligning procurement activities with production needs, optimizing stock levels, and coordinating with procurement and logistics teams to support timely and cost-effective material availability while driving continuous improvement in planning processes.

Key Accountability Areas

Inventory Management

  • Determine optimal procurement quantities and timing in alignment with production schedules and warehouse capacity constraints
  • Minimize inventory levels and eliminate delivery delays to improve inventory turnover and operational efficiency

Safety Stock and Material Segmentation

  • Maintain and regularly update safety stock levels for all active materials
  • Implement and manage material segmentation strategies (e.g., ABC, XYZ classifications) along with relevant planning parameters

Procurement and Logistics Coordination

  • Generate timely purchase requests based on material requirements
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure on-time delivery and proactively escalate potential stockout risks

Delivery and Quality Assurance

  • Ensure material deliveries meet timeline, budget, and quality expectations
  • Review material availability in relation to production plans and incoming customer orders

Stock Optimization and Lifecycle Management

  • Lead initiatives to reduce excess and obsolete inventory through structured action plans
  • Oversee material lifecycle activities including phase-in and phase-out transitions

Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement

  • Track performance against material planning objectives and address deviations as needed
  • Drive continuous improvement in planning processes, tools, and procedures
