Job Description

WSP is looking for an experienced Senior Drainage Engineer to lead the design and engineering efforts for storm drainage networks in Jeddah. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 15 years of expertise in the design, planning, and implementation of storm drainage systems, with a proven track record in delivering high-quality solutions for similar projects.

Responsibilities

Design & Engineering:

  • Lead the design and engineering of storm drainage networks, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with local regulations and industry standards. Develop detailed designs for drainage systems, including stormwater management, pipe networks, culverts, and related infrastructure. Project Management:
  • Oversee the execution of drainage-related projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required specifications. Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.


Technical Leadership:

  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and project teams. Review design calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure the quality and accuracy of work. Compliance & Standards:
  • Ensure designs meet environmental, regulatory, and safety standards for stormwater management. Stay updated on relevant codes, standards, and technologies related to drainage engineering.


Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure requirements are met and potential issues are addressed. Attend project meetings and present technical reports and recommendations. Problem Solving & Innovation:
  • Address technical challenges related to drainage design and implementation, providing innovative solutions to complex issues. Proactively identify areas for improvement in design and engineering processes.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in the design and engineering of storm drainage networks.
  • Strong expertise in designing drainage systems, including stormwater management, pipelines, and culverts.
  • Proven experience in similar large-scale projects, demonstrating a deep understanding of local regulations and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with relevant software tools for design and analysis (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Hydrologic and Hydraulic modeling tools).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to lead and mentor junior engineers.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English (Arabic proficiency is a plus).
