Job description

Build and develop customs-related strategies for the group across different countries in the region. Maintain and enhance relationships with customs agencies and government authorities for goods classification and declaration. Maximize relationships with suppliers and customs brokers. Analyze the economic impact of modifications in product origin or classification.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Information and Data Management: Work closely with SPOCs at origin to support Master Data management.
2. Reporting to Senior Management: Regularly update the transport Director at the group level on the performance of customs brokers and government agencies.
3. Oversee Quality and Performance: Monitor and improve the quality of customs documentation provided internally, ensuring compliance with country-specific requirements.
4. Advise on Cost-Effective Solutions: Provide guidance on cost savings related to origin and classification, including Duty Drawbacks.
5. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure operations comply with all relevant regulations and monitor adherence to processes, terms, and timeframes.
6. Billing and Invoicing: Ensure accurate billing according to the service price list and verify customs broker invoices for correctness.
7. Customs and Regulatory Compliance Management: Oversee compliance with customs, dangerous goods, and other applicable regulations for safe shipment handling.
8. Relationship Development: Develop ongoing relationships with customs and regulatory government agencies across the region.
9. Audit Management: Ensure shipments are properly recorded and manage audit requests from authorities.
10. Stakeholder Communication: Attend operational meetings with freight forwarders, customs, customers, and other stakeholders to address operational challenges.
11. Reporting and Continuous Improvement: Provide accurate reports and demonstrate adaptability and commitment to continuous improvement.
12. Team Development: Train and support team members in required tasks.
13. Compliance and Integrity: Report breaches in quality, health & safety, environmental procedures, and security protocols, taking corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in import/export customs operations and clearance.
• Strong knowledge of logistics regulations, customs, and incoterms.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience working with large data sets from multiple sources and countries.
• Knowledge of ISO, OHSAS, and environmental management systems is advantageous.
• SAP experience.
• Fluency in Arabic and English.
