Job description

We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Spanish teacher to join our dynamic global language department. This role involves teaching Spanish to middle and high school students, including advanced courses such as IBDP Spanish B, Ab Initio, and/or AP Spanish.

We desire a creative, passionate educator committed to inspiring students through language learning, fostering both linguistic proficiency and cultural understanding. The ideal candidate will bring energy, initiative, and a student-centered approach, contributing to a supportive department culture and creating meaningful learning experiences across grade levels.

Position Duties

  1. Ensure the safety and security of students (child protection).
  2. Plan and deliver lessons aligned with a clearly defined curriculum.
  3. Implement an active, hands-on, student-centered Spanish program.
  4. Maintain attendance, grades, and other student records.
  5. Assess and grade student work and examinations.
  6. Support students needing extra help outside class hours.
  7. Monitor and record student progress.
  8. Address individual student needs and abilities.
  9. Facilitate classroom discussions.
  10. Revise curricula, course content, and instructional methods.
  11. Deliver high-quality Spanish instruction, potentially including IB or AP frameworks.
  12. Develop assessments aligned with IB or AP standards, including formative and summative evaluations.
  13. Contribute to IB curriculum development and review (if applicable).
  14. Stay updated on field developments through literature, colleagues, and conferences.
  15. Collaborate with colleagues on teaching and research issues.
  16. Demonstrate creativity in teaching.
  17. Participate in committees on policies, departmental, and academic matters.
  18. Supervise after-school activities or coach athletic teams.
  19. Maintain a safe learning environment at all times.
  20. Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in Spanish or related qualification.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Teaching certification.
  • Fluent in Spanish (native level) and English, both written and spoken.

Experience and Skills

  • Previous experience teaching MS/HS Spanish.
  • Experience with IBDP Spanish preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Spanish language teaching.
  • Excellent command of Spanish and English.
  • Exceptional classroom management skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Maturity and adaptability.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • High confidentiality and loyalty.
