Viavi Solutions Inc. is seeking a Solution Engineer to support sales efforts for fiber optic and wireless solutions in the Middle East. The role involves high-level technical demonstrations, customer engagement, and collaboration with sales teams and channel partners. Ideal candidates possess a Telecom diploma and related experience in pre-sales support, with a strong understanding of advanced telecommunication technologies.

The Solution Engineer is responsible for supporting and enabling sales on VIAVI Fiber Optic Field Instrument, Metro-Ethernet field instrument and Wireless (test and mass emulation) solutions portfolio in Saudi Arabia and rest of MEA (Middle East Africa) according to the global MEA sales plan. The Solution Engineer will work closely with the sales team and with selected channel partners and will take responsibility of any high-level technical demonstrations of VIAVI product solutions in front of customers or in joining selected partner / VIAVI events (technical seminars, webinars and roadshows). The individual will have to transfer product and related technology knowledge to the Sales team and to the Channel Partners. In conjunction with Sales, the Solution Engineer will be accountable for the bookings number of the related product portfolio in the region covered in addition to owning account penetration in the related project or opportunity ecosystem.
The Solution Engineer is responsible for the introduction, implementation and follow-up of the Fiber, Metro-Ethernet and Wireless test portfolio Sales Plan in MEA and is expected to be proactive in case of deviation. The Solution Engineer is expected to drive issues to successful resolution within the wider “EMEA Solution Engineer Team”, directly with Sales and with the Business Unit.
Duties & Responsibilities :
Deliver high level pre-sales technical support to our customer in Saudi Arabia & MEA on :
VIAVI’s Fiber Instrument portfolio : Connector Inspection, OTDR, Lights Sources, Power Meters, OSA, Optical dispersion-PMD / CD, …
VIAVI’s Metro-Ethernet portfolio : 10M to 1GE, 100GE to 400GE and also the coming 800GE technology, Ethernet synchronization, OTN transmission technologies, etc… for Service Activation testing and measurement : RFC2544, Y.1564, RFC6349, etc…
VIAVI Wireless Solutions : Testing solutions for 4G, 5G, eCPRI / CPRI, Open-RAN, MIMO, eMBB, URLLC, Private 5G, Security, Mass UE load simulation / emulation, etc., for supporting Wireless Service provider with testing solutions in 4G, 5G and ORAN networks.
Deliver product and technology presentations at targeted local roadshows / technical seminars and webinars in Saudi Arabia & MEA.
Self-motivated in penetrating opportunities and accounts for sales enablement.
Deliver education and awareness of test and reporting methods and procedures to our customer base.
Liaise with customers on instrument field trials or method and procedure implementation.
Help discover ecosystem trends and activities as well as optimize product positioning to capture sales.
Provide feedback to the Business Units (Product Line Managers / R&D) in order to increase innovation.
Share experiences and best practices across the EMEA Solution Engineer team members.
Transfer basics of product / technologies knowledge to Sales / Channel Partners during specific and regular training sessions.
Actively participate in the monthly EMEA Solution Engineer virtual meetings : Feedback on deals, technical inputs, local market needs, challenges, successes, recovery plans, etc.
Quality of the pre-sales technical support to sales and channel partners.
Measurement of progress, gaps and recovery actions when needed.
As part of the technical support sales team, accountable for driving sales growth in the region for the Fiber portfolio.
Travel Required : Around 30% all over MEA.
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements :
Telecom Science & Electronics Engineer diploma with the Telecom expertise.
Understanding of all Fibre Optic, Metro-Ethernet, Wireless and Telecom transmission technologies and associated testing method and procedure, etc...
Understand challenges during the installation, maintenance and network migrations in any fibre optic, PON Access, Ethernet Service Activation, Wireless 4G / 5G, …as well domain.
Proven experience in using / pre-sales technical support with major vendors and T&M equipment vendors.
