Job description

Euro Group For Engineering Consultancy is seeking a passionate and experienced Solid Waste Management Planner/Strategist. The role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring strategic plans, policies, and KPIs for integrated solid waste management within the Amana of Taif. The candidate will ensure alignment with national environmental objectives, address regional waste management challenges, and incorporate global best practices in sustainability.

Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct research, collect, and analyze data specific to Taif's solid waste, including composition, recycling rates, and landfill capacity. Perform needs assessments to identify challenges and opportunities.
  2. Develop comprehensive waste management strategies and action plans tailored for Taif, focusing on reduction, reuse, recycling, treatment, resource recovery, and environmentally sound disposal.
  3. Establish KPIs and targets, develop data collection methodologies, and measure progress towards strategic goals.
  4. Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across relevant departments to ensure effective waste management practices.
  5. Collaborate with internal departments, external agencies, private partners, and community organizations for plan implementation and knowledge sharing.
  6. Monitor performance, analyze data for trends, evaluate plan effectiveness, and recommend adjustments.
  7. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote environmental stewardship.
  8. Develop communication strategies to raise awareness and encourage community participation.
  9. Prepare reports, presentations, and policy recommendations for management and stakeholders.
  10. Drive strategic decision-making through data analysis and promote a culture of sustainability within Taif.
Desired Candidate Profile:
  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Urban Planning, Data Science, or related fields, with knowledge of Saudi Arabia's environmental context.
  2. 5+ years of experience in strategic waste management planning, policy development, and project management at municipal or regional levels.
  3. Ability to develop and track KPIs, implement SOPs, and analyze waste data using tools like SPSS, R, Tableau, or Power BI.
  4. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic skills specific to municipal waste challenges.
  5. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  6. Knowledge of local regulations, international best practices, and emerging trends in Saudi Arabia.
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Skills:
  1. Certified Lead Auditor (IRCA EMS ISO 14001:2015) or equivalent, with experience auditing waste facilities in Saudi Arabia.
  2. Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001).
  3. Experience developing waste management strategies in Saudi municipalities.
  4. Proficiency in environmental modeling and data analysis software.
  5. Strong project management and organizational skills.
  6. Effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
  7. Experience with community outreach and environmental compliance.
  8. Leadership and team management capabilities.
