Job description

The Service Technician will be responsible for the refurbishment of mechanical seals and associated activities in a highly professional seal repair environment.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :

  • Dismantleand cleanof mechanical seals and parts under repair.
  • Inspectof mechanical seals and seal cartridges.
  • Prepare inspection report with full knowledge of failure modes.
  • Prepare breakdown of parts required for the repair in accordance with the seal repair analysis procedures.
  • Seal faces reconditioning by lapping and polishing.
  • Assemble and repair mechanical seals and seal cartridges in accordance with John Crane drawings and specifications including locally manufactured metal parts, repaired metal and non-metal parts when needed.
  • Testof mechanical seals and seal cartridges in accordance with John Crane specifications.
  • Manage local inventory of seal spares for both contractual and transactional repairs.
  • Ensurequality & safety within functions / tasks performed by himself / herself and staff reporting to him / her
  • Responsible for exercising due diligence towards health & safety of self and others within the organization
  • Ensurecompliance with the applicable HSE instructions, requirements, laws and regulations received from customers, regulatory and statutory bodies
  • Participatein continuous improvement activities

Qualifications

  • Education / Training : Diploma or University degree in Engineering or relevant vocational technical qualification
  • Experience : 8+ years of professional experience in proactive multinational & multicultural environment
  • Ability to understand component and assembly drawings.
  • Reporting and full awareness of failure modes.
  • Lapping and polishing using lapping machines.
  • Knowledge of John Crane product portfolio.
  • Computer literate in MS Office, and outlook.
  • Experience with service module in SAP.
