Job Description

The Service Technician will be responsible for the refurbishment of mechanical seals and associated activities in a highly professional seal repair environment.

Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Dismantle and clean mechanical seals and parts under repair.
  2. Inspect mechanical seals and seal cartridges.
  3. Prepare inspection reports with full knowledge of failure modes.
  4. Prepare breakdown of parts required for repair in accordance with the seal repair analysis procedure.
  5. Recondition seal faces by lapping and polishing.
  6. Assemble and repair mechanical seals and seal cartridges according to John Crane drawings and specifications, including locally manufactured metal parts and repaired metal and non-metal parts when needed.
  7. Test mechanical seals and seal cartridges in accordance with John Crane specifications.
  8. Manage local inventory of seal spares for both contractual and transactional repairs.
  9. Ensure quality and safety within the functions/tasks performed by himself/herself and staff reporting to him/her.
  10. Exercise due diligence towards health & safety of self and others within the organization.
  11. Ensure compliance with applicable HSE instructions, requirements, laws, and regulations received from customers, regulatory, and statutory bodies.
  12. Participate in continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications, Education/Training:

  • Diploma or University degree in Engineering or relevant vocational technical qualification.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of professional experience in a proactive multinational & multicultural environment.

Additional Skills:

  • Ability to understand component and assembly drawings.
  • Reporting and full awareness of failure modes.
  • Lapping and polishing using lapping machines.
  • Knowledge of John Crane product portfolio.
  • Computer literate in MS Office and Outlook.
  • Experience with service modules in SAP.
  • Languages: English, Arabic.
