The Purpose of the Role

The incumbent is expected to be the primary interface between freight forwarders, government agencies, customs brokers, and designated Honeywell affiliates regarding trade compliance. This person will be responsible for designing and managing trade compliance programs, ensuring adherence to laws and regulations in Saudi Arabia and GCC, and working with compliance software and SAP. Responsibilities include managing customs processes, audits, recordkeeping, and developing strategies for duty exemptions and free trade agreements.

Responsibilities
  1. Design and implement Honeywell's import/export compliance programs across regions, including customs regulation adherence, valuation, classification, and training.
  2. Identify and implement continuous improvements to trade processes to realize savings and mitigate risks.
  3. Manage relationships with customs brokers and freight forwarders, and oversee broker performance.
  4. Develop and ensure compliance with FTA and other duty/cost avoidance programs, maintaining eligibility and records.
  5. Communicate trade compliance requirements through training, newsletters, and SOPs.
  6. Conduct annual holistic customs audits, implement corrective actions, and utilize trade compliance software for audits.
  7. Monitor procedures across Honeywell facilities and vendors for compliance.
  8. Perform import/export documentation audits and other assigned activities.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5-6 years of experience in Trade Compliance or consulting environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of trade and customs regulations for Saudi Arabia and GCC countries.
  • Secondary Education preferred; Brokers License or Master’s Degree/Certificate in Compliance preferred.
  • Specialized knowledge in international trade, logistics, customs, law, or international studies.
  • Arabic language proficiency is required.
  • Ability to analyze alternatives, make decisions, and resolve trade compliance issues.
  • Experience with HTS classification and database maintenance.
  • Ability to develop policies, SOPs, and internal controls to ensure compliance and minimize risks.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and proficiency in computer skills.
