Job Description for Lead Discipline Engineer II – Telecom & Security

Job Purpose

Responsible for all engineering activities within one or multiple disciplines for specific projects, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements (design, budgeted hours, schedule, etc.). This role involves leading a team of engineers/designers and coordinating with other departments and external agencies.

Role Dimension

Supervision and management of a medium-sized team (Specialist Engineers, Designers, Draftsmen).

Key Interactions

  • Internally: Project Manager, Engineering Manager, other discipline Lead Engineers, project support functions such as Procurement, Subcontracting & Planning, Document Controller, Site Manager.
  • Externally: Auditors & certification bodies, Clients, Partners.

Requirements & Experiential Learnings

  • Engineering degree; registration with Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) preferred.
  • Experience in engineering, including as lead discipline or department engineer. Saudi Aramco and local client experience is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with all technical aspects of the discipline (Basic, FEED, and Detail engineering), workflow development, engineering practices, calculation methods, etc.
  • Construction experience on plant sites.
  • Management and leadership skills, interpersonal and influential skills.
  • Project management experience.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Minimum 15 years of total experience in oil/gas, hydrocarbon, refinery, offshore, or infrastructure industries, including at least 8 years in Oil & Gas and 3 years in EPC projects.
  • Preferably certified in BICSI-RCCD, ASIS PSP, industrial security, functional safety, and familiar with KSA HCIS protocols.
  • Technical knowledge of disciplines like Integrated Security Systems, LAN & WAN, Structured Cabling, PAGA, Alarm Systems, Radio, Transmission, Leak Detection, etc.

Main Accountabilities

  • Establish discipline QHSE plan, objectives, team roles, and work processes aligned with project goals and TEN procedures.
  • Perform activities and deliverables as per schedule, quality, contractual, and execution requirements.
  • Manage team organization, mobilization, and supervise internal/external engineering activities.
  • Review and approve discipline deliverables, control schedule, budget, and man-hours.
  • Identify technical risks and opportunities, ensure data awareness, and coordinate with other disciplines and project teams.
  • Optimize technical and economical solutions, manage team performance, and report progress.
  • Represent the company in technical discussions with clients, partners, and vendors.
  • Manage material quantities, support digital initiatives, and contribute to project close-out and lessons learned.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, participate in training, and uphold HSEQ directives.

Roles

Depending on organizational needs and individual competencies, may perform roles such as Field Engineer, Factory Inspection, Material Reception Supervisor, Secondment to client, Internal Auditor, etc.
