Job description

To operate and monitor Ladle Refining Furnace (LF) equipment, ensuring the timely production of finished products or work in progress under the guidance of the Plant Supervisor.

3. JOB DIMENSIONS

Job Responsibilities :

Technical Operations

  • Operates and controls LF during ladle treatment (roof, electrodes, and ladle car movement, alloy/flux additions).
  • Monitors stirring in the ladle and adjusts settings as required.
  • Controls slag carryover and alloy additions.
  • Plans crane availability for material and maintenance activities.
  • Supervises shift operations to ensure efficiency and safety.
  • Carries out routine off-line activities (electrode connections, roof cleaning, etc.) to minimize interruptions.
  • Performs temperature measurement and sample collection for QC analysis.
  • Takes necessary actions during emergencies to minimize risks.
  • Reports any process/equipment issues for corrective action.

Team Supervision

  • Supervises assigned team, ensuring work is done efficiently and according to policies.

Reporting

  • Prepares regular and special reports.
  • Brings shutdown items to the attention of the supervisor to use time effectively.
  • Records inspection results and data analysis in logs and PMMS.

Quality, Health, Safety & Environment

  • Adheres to safety, quality, and environmental policies to ensure a safe work environment.

Qualifications :Technical Diploma (relevant area).

Minimum Experience :4-5 years in plant/process operations.

  • Knowledge of LF equipment and process parameters.
  • Full understanding of operation and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • Analytical capability and basic computer skills.
