Key Components of SAP CPI / Integration Suite

1. Cloud Integration: Design, manage, and monitor integration flows (iFlows).
2. API Management: Securely expose, manage, and monitor APIs.
3. Open Connectors: Pre-built connectors to over 160+ third-party applications.
4. Integration Advisor: Uses machine learning for B2B/EDI integration mapping.
5. Event Mesh: Supports event-driven architectures (pub/sub).
6. Enterprise Messaging: For real-time data streaming and messaging.

Roles and Responsibilities of a CPI Consultant (BTP)

1. Integration Design and Development

• Analyze requirements, design, and implement iFlows using SAP CPI.
• Handle various adapters (HTTP, IDoc, SOAP, OData, SFTP, JDBC, etc.).
• Map and transform data using graphical and script-based mappings (Groovy, XSLT).

2. System Connectivity

• Connect cloud and on-premises systems (SAP S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors, Salesforce, etc.).
• Use Cloud Connector, Authentication (OAuth2, Basic Auth), Certificates, and Destinations.

3. Utilize Pre-packaged Content

• Leverage integration packages from SAP API Business Hub.
• Customize and extend pre-delivered content as needed.

4. Security & Authentication

• Configure secure communication (TLS, HTTPS, SFTP).
• Manage certificates, keystores, and credentials securely.
• Implement OAuth2, SAML, and basic authentication where necessary.

5. Monitoring and Troubleshooting

• Use SAP CPI Monitoring tools to track message flows, errors, and system health.
• Analyze failed messages and logs (Trace, Debug modes).
• Handle retries, exceptions, and alerting mechanisms.

6. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing

• Document architecture, configurations, and processes.
• Support UAT and go-live with knowledge sharing.

Technical Skills Required

• Experience with iFlows, Groovy scripts, XSLT.
• Familiarity with OData, SOAP, REST APIs.
• Understanding of cloud connectors, integration patterns, and error handling.
• Tools: Postman, SAP BTP Cockpit, SAP API Business Hub, SAP Cloud Connector.
