Key Areas of Responsibility
The priorities of this role include:
- Reporting to the Lead Quantity Surveyor for the technical development and performance of assigned projects;
- Undertaking take-offs of quantities, proposing procurement methods, preparing bills of quantities and cost estimates during various project stages (concept, schematic, preliminary, detailed);
- Supporting and guiding the quantity surveying team, ensuring accuracy appropriate to each development stage;
- Coordinating with other technical disciplines to ensure timely and scope-compliant quantity take-offs and cost estimates;
- Assisting in preparing internal and external presentations to develop the QS work stream for FAEC;
- Verifying client instructions for technical compliance and reporting to the Lead Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager;
- Ensuring client staff requirements are met regarding technical and contractual aspects, and facilitating swift closure of issues;
- Overseeing accurate recording of time inputs by quantity surveying staff;
- Monitoring performance of quantity surveying packages and advising on necessary actions;
- Performing other duties as reasonably assigned by the Lead Quantity Surveyor.
Key Requirements and Characteristics
The role requires:
- Strong team collaboration skills;
- Extensive experience in quantity surveying and cost estimation for large projects across various disciplines, especially in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East;
- Proficiency with REVIT, Civil 3D, BIM, and industry-standard software, with the ability to teach and verify others;
- Knowledge of international and Saudi standards, including the Royal Commission General Engineering Manual, and familiarity with American, BS, and EU codes;
- Proven track record as a Senior Quantity Surveyor across multiple project stages and disciplines;
- Excellent communication skills in English, with some Arabic language skills considered an advantage.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
The minimum requirements are:
- Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering; a Master's Degree is preferred;
- At least 13 years of relevant experience, including 3 years in the Middle East and 2 years preparing quantities and cost estimates for organizations like the Royal Commission, SABIC, or ARAMCO;
- Extensive experience with REVIT, Civil 3D, BIM, and quantity take-offs;
- Experience with quality systems compliant with industry standards.
