Senior Project Manager - IP/MPLS

Position Objectives:

• Senior project manager will lead the end-to-end delivery of complex IP/MPLS network infrastructure projects
• Leverage PMP-certified project management expertise to drive structured delivery, risk mitigation, and stakeholder engagement.
• Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and KPIs, ensuring alignment with business and technical goals.
• Oversee multi-vendor network architecture design and rollout, focusing on MPLS VPNs, QoS, and advanced IP protocols.
• Ensure robust vendor coordination, performance monitoring, and adherence to international telecom standards.
• Provide strategic leadership and technical guidance to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance network solutions.

Job Description & Responsibilities:

• Provide technical know-how in the field of IP, MPLS, QoS, and emerging technologies.
• Design and configurations development of large service provider multi-vendor network - RFC 2547bis based MPLS VPN with QoS.
• Design broadband DSL architectures based on Ethernet / IP network technology for large carriers networks.
• Prepare a project plan, charter, benchmarks, KPI, SLA, communication, and reporting structures.
• Develop the project implementation/rollout plan, review progress regularly, and update management accordingly.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks that impact the agreed rollout schedule and KPIs.
• Review vendor performance and take necessary actions to ensure robust and timely delivery.
• Oversee and qualify testing of installed equipment, interconnections, integration, circuits, and deployed services.
• Develop and submit final reports with suggestions and recommendations for field trials, lab trials, and other testing.
• Prepare all necessary documentation, including RFI, RFPs, and tendering documents.

• Experience in designing broadband DSL architectures based on Ethernet / IP network technology for large carriers networks
• Deep understanding of Advanced Ethernet features like: VPLS, Multi-layer QoS, 802.1Q, 802.1s/802.1w, PVST, GVRP, GMRP, STP, MSTP, RSTP, LAG, Ether-channel, Multicast and other protocols.
• Expert knowledge of TCP/IP and related interior and exterior routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS etc)
• Expert level understanding of QoS (Diffserv, Intserv architectures, scheduling disciplines, RSVP and Diffserv protocols)
• In-depth knowledge in the field of MPLS (TE traffic engineering, FRR, LDP, RSVP-TE, MP-BGP, OSPF-TE, MPLS-VPN)
• Expert in the areas of Ethernet, IP MPLS (RFC 2547bis), L2/L3 VPNs, ATM/FR, DSL Architectures, Leased Lines, Point-to-Point, ISDN, X.25, etc
• Expert in the areas of Link technologies (POS, GigE), Transport infrastructure (EoSDH, DWDM etc) and IP security
• Expert knowledgeable and experienced with Cisco IOS and the family of Cisco networking, routing, switching, and security platforms
• Knowledge of Martini and Kompella IETF drafts for L2 VPNs.
• Familiar with BRAS and MSAN access platforms architectures for Broadband and Narrowband services
• Ability to work effectively, and lead a technical initiative, including both technical and administrative aspects.
• Excellent communication, leadership, coaching and mentoring skills
• Must have excellent written, oral communication, listening, negotiation and presentation skills

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's/Master's in Telecom, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in IP/MPLS technologies
• 5+ years of working experience as a project manager in large telecommunication projects.
• PMP or PgMP certification is mandatory.
• Strong expertise in MPLS VPN (RFC 2547bis), QoS, and broadband DSL architecture.
• Deep knowledge of BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, RSVP, LDP, MP-BGP, MPLS-TE, and QoS protocols.
• Proficient in Cisco IOS and multi-vendor service provider network environments.
• Experienced in vendor management, RFI/RFP/tender processes, and rollout planning.
• Familiar with BRAS/MSAN, Ethernet technologies (VPLS, STP, MSTP), and DWDM/EoSDH.
• Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
• Proven leadership in delivering large telecom projects on schedule and within scope.
• Excellent knowledge of English language, ability to speak and write Arabic is desirable
