Senior Project Controls Manager - Energy & Power

At Jacobs, our Power Solutions team is geared towards providing a more integrated approach offering end-to-end service to support our clients in energy networks, thermal generation, renewable generation, and storage solutions space. We are helping our clients meet the challenges faced in countries and cities across the globe, providing innovative solutions from replacing conventional thermal power plants with renewable energy to developing demand side management strategies.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Controls Manager to oversee and manage the project control functions for our complex energy and power projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project controls within the energy sector, with expertise in cost management, scheduling, risk assessment, and performance reporting.

Responsibilities not limited to;

  • Lead the project control team on-site, overseeing all aspects of project planning, scheduling, cost control, and performance reporting.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive project control systems and procedures.
  • Create and manage detailed project schedules using advanced scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Monitor project progress, identify deviations from the plan, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare and analyze cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow projections.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and project metrics.
  • Conduct earned value analysis and provide regular performance reports to project management and stakeholders.
  • Manage change control processes, including impact assessments on cost and schedule.
  • Identify and assess project risks, developing mitigation strategies in collaboration with the project team.
  • Forecast resource requirements and optimize resource allocation across project activities.
  • Coordinate with various departments (e.g., procurement, engineering, construction) to ensure accurate and timely data collection.
  • Develop and maintain project dashboards and status reports for senior management and clients.
  • Contribute to bid preparations and contract negotiations by providing cost and schedule expertise.
  • Mentor and develop junior project control team members.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CCP, PSP, or EVP are highly desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in project controls, with at least 8 years specifically in energy and power projects.
  • Extensive experience with project management and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, SAP).
  • Strong knowledge of earned value management principles and practices.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing project controls for large-scale, complex energy infrastructure projects.
  • In-depth understanding of cost estimating, budgeting, and forecasting in the energy sector.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with contract types common in energy projects (e.g., EPC, EPCM) and their implications for project controls.
