- Leads the team, with a focus on delivering innovative solutions that provide superior outcomes. Provide consistent leadership and will support client focus and responsiveness and will help to ensure identification and anticipation of client needs.
- Manages the team’s deliverables through effective leadership by setting individual objectives, managing performance and developing the team to maximize performance.
- Ensures smooth coordination with consultants, making sure they adhere to project timelines and meet the clients’ high-quality standards.
- Leads the design team in undertaking technical design reviews to ensure compliance with all Project Requirements and Strategy, Project, Design and Development Briefs, including innovation, optioneering and value engineering.
- Leads the team to ensure design deliverables are provided by the design consultants in accordance with their contract, district and sub-district program requirements
- Collaborates closely with various internal departments, clients, consultants, contractors and stakeholders to fully understand project requirements and create innovative design solutions that satisfy client requirements and local codes and standards. Effectively manage the required interfaces to raise possible impacts to project programs, budgets and quality issues.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams, consultants, contractors and stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and integration of various design elements to achieve seamless progression from design, construction to final handover.
- Proactively monitors and tracks project progress, promptly identify and resolve any design-related challenges or conflicts that may arise and report timeously on these.
- Efficiently manages and maintains meticulous project documentation, including design records, change orders, and necessary approvals.
- Initiate and chair meetings with the client, consultants, design team and stakeholders whilst capturing minutes of meetings as necessary.
- Manages all matters related to design being ‘fit for purpose’ specifically ‘Safety in Design’.
- Leads the design sign off process by all design consultants / sub-contract designers.
- Ensures quality assurance processes are in place to review design deliverables and ensure compliance with project specifications, design standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures the team designs according to the cost/business plan, system and operations plan.
- Assists Cost Consultants assess the cost of design changes and track accordingly ensuring proper change management processes are adhered to throughout the design process.
- Oversees production of Work Breakdown Structure for design/engineering deliverables which is suitable for production of design documentation and is in accordance with procurement, construction staging and project phasing requirements.
- Oversees the governance of Shared and Published information within districts and sub districts
- Facilitates the coordination of interfaces between projects within districts and sub districts Infrastructure.
- Assists with the evaluation of RFP proposals and provides necessary support to the various business teams
- Assists, prepares and presents both progress reports and stage gate presentations for each project, highlighting key milestones, challenges, programmes, designs, costs / budgets and achievements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Control Systems, or Electrical Engineering, with a minimum of 15 years of work experience in the design, installation, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems for industrial and infrastructure projects.
- In-depth knowledge of process control systems, including SCADA, DCS, PLC systems, and automation technologies, with a focus on process optimization, safety, and performance.
- Experience in the design, selection, and specification of instrumentation, including flow meters, pressure sensors, temperature transmitters, level sensors, and control valves, for infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in control system design with experience in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.), HMI design, and system integration for large-scale industrial operations.
- Expertise in network architecture for control systems, with an understanding of cybersecurity protocols for industrial control systems (ICS) and IT/OT convergence.
- Knowledge of KSA authority regulations and experience working with local regulatory bodies to obtain approval for instrumentation and control systems.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to manage complex systems and ensure the reliability and safety of instrumentation and control operations.
