Job Description
Parsons is looking for a talented Senior Port Facility Security Officer to join our team. The Senior Port Facility Security Officer will be responsible for managing port security operations, including 24/7 surveillance, coordinating security matters, and distributing information to port personnel and the Port Authority based on appropriate security classifications and measurements.
What You'll Be Doing
- Manage 24/7 port security operations, port facility security assessments, and provide security presence in the port harbor.
- Create the port security plan and carry out activities related to maritime and building security as determined by the Port Authority.
- Issue all security passes and permits, including logging details.
- Ensure delivery of a high standard of service to the port’s clients, stakeholders and public by identifying security threats and patterns.
- Provide required security response and crisis management, ensuring security measures protect JCPDI assets from theft and damage.
- Liaise with the Coast Guard, Port Operator and Port Authority to provide the required security services and support port users.
- Maintain standard security services.
- Control access to port premises by clients, port users, stakeholders and the public.
- Liaise with relevant authorities.
- Report incidents related to security infringements, damage, criminal damage, road traffic accidents and misbehavior; determine course of action.
- Provide security services during visits of cruise ships to the port (e.g., closing piers, controlling traffic).
- Lock and unlock all port facilities.
- Place movable signs for passenger information and make announcements on the public address system.
- Provide patrols within port and harbor areas for security purposes, enforce parking restrictions, investigate incidents, and check for problems or defects.
- Assist staff within other infrastructure departments as required and assist in emergency procedures (e.g., clearing areas of the public, closing roads, traffic control).
What Desired Skills You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Navy, Port, Military Studies, Marine or a related field with 8 years of related experience in port security and port facility management.
- Port Facility Security Management certificate is preferred.
- Minimum of First on Scene medical qualification; First Aid is preferred.
- Strong experience in port maritime security with knowledge of port management and local and international marine regulations.
- Excellent leadership, teamwork, management, and communication skills; ability to interface with staff at all levels.
- Good English language skills (reading, writing and speaking).
- Computer literacy with experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
