Job Purpose:

  • The Water Sports Senior Manager is a position whose primary role is to support the RSSE General Manager to develop all water sports related tourism assets and their business function.
  • They will be responsible for the development and operational roll-out of all water sports related projects, including the collaboration and engagement of cross-functional stakeholders and ensuring that all sides of the business are kept informed throughout the life of the project.
  • The position also works closely with the Director of Sports & Adventure to enhance project outcomes.
  • This includes, but is not limited to, working remotely to identify and train the team that will deliver and operate water sports related assets.
  • We are looking for an individual with a strong watersports background.
  • Experience in sailing, SUP, windsurfing, kitesurfing, wing foiling and other water sports is required.
  • Internationally recognised instructor qualifications are a must.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reporting directly to the RSSE General Manager and working alongside other Senior Managers in assisting in the development and management of all phases of water sports related projects.
  • Work alongside Health & Safety and Legal Departments to develop policies, procedures and source operational licenses.
  • Support with the writing, management and delivery of Standard Operating Procedures and processes related to the delivery of water sports activities at key water sports venues within the Red Sea Development Project.
  • Support with the liaison between RSSE and 3rd party service providers who may be brought in to deliver key elements of training.
  • Monitor and manage standards of operations.
  • Support on communication with international and local manufacturers of equipment chosen for use within the water sports centres.
  • Manage routine equipment maintenance and arrange periodical equipment replacement as and when required.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and program delivery evaluation visits.
  • Establish internal operational teams and oversee team management.
  • Work alongside other Senior Managers and the RSSE General Manager to plan and deliver continued professional development (CPD) sessions for water sports activity staff as and when required.
  • On-going support for the team to ensure the water sports activity programs are delivered in keeping with the overarching sustainability goals as set out in our project master plan.
  • Work alongside Director of Sports & Adventure to engage development project leaders for the integration of Water Sports related tourism elements into their projects.
  • Attend project meetings, develop detailed project plans to monitor and track progress and update existing project database.
  • Create and maintain project presentations.
  • Collate, create, and maintain site visit survey presentations and database.
  • Collate department information and communications to generate internal and external media publications.
  • Possible remote work out of RSSE offices may be required.

  • Follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely functional reports to meet corporate requirements, policies, and standards.

  • Apply safety, quality and environmental management policies and procedures, and controls to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of departments systems, processes and practices considering international best practice, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Dinghy Instructor, Senior Instructor or equivalent.
  • ISA Qualified Surf and SUP instructor.
  • Paddle Sports Coach, or equivalent qualification.
  • First Aid Qualification.
  • Other awards such as ERCA, RPIOL or APIOL.
  • Level 2 Powerboating, or equivalent as a minimum qualification.
  • Proven coaching and training skills across marine multi-sports.
  • Understanding of the local and global water sports markets.
  • Minimum 8 years in watersports industry, experience in the Middle East preferred.
  • Experience in developing and managing watersports centres.
  • Demonstrated team leadership in previous positions.
  • Experience in youth and adult water sports programs and procedures.

Skills:

  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and quickly adapt to changing needs.
  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English, Arabic a plus.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Has an aptitude and aspiration for outstanding customer service with a can-do attitude. Flexible and open-minded approach.
  • Ability to self-motivate and deliver to agreed deadlines.
  • Good timekeeping.
  • Ability to produce well-structured written documents.
  • Ideal candidate will be a positive and proactive individual with a high aptitude for customer care and good leadership skills.
  • Have the capability to motivate and guide along with the ability to develop and build relationships easily.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
