Job description

We are hiring a Jira Software Engineer to manage the Atlassian stack at Canonical, including administration, configuration, automation, and integration. We value high engineering quality, rigorous documentation, and effective stakeholder management. Our goal is to enable Canonical teams to leverage Atlassian Jira for challenging projects and data-driven decision-making.

This role is part of the Commercial Systems team, which integrates business systems used at Canonical to ensure reliable data flows and automate processes. Our systems include SaaS solutions like Jira, Salesforce, NetSuite, Greenhouse, GSuite, and others. We use Python, Go, and open-source tools like Airbyte and Temporal to enhance data-driven decisions and operational efficiency.

Location: This role can be performed from anywhere within EMEA time zones.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage the entire Atlassian Cloud ecosystem at Canonical
  2. Design, document, and implement processes and automation in Jira
  3. Design, document, and implement integrations between Jira and data warehouses
  4. Create analytical dashboards for stakeholders
  5. Develop learning resources that can scale
  6. Collaborate with engineering, operations, and support teams globally
  7. Handle critical escalations promptly
Candidate Profile
  • Strong academic record from high school and university
  • Experience with Jira as an administrator
  • Understanding of Jira usage patterns across departments
  • Proficiency in Python development
  • Professional English communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, accountability
  • Ability to work remotely with diverse teams, staying motivated and organized
  • Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Knowledge of process architecture
  • Experience with complex cross-project automation
