What We Need
At Oivan, we are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer responsible for implementing complex tasks with best practice codebase quality. We value a diverse set of engineers experienced with our current tech stack.
Our expectation for a senior engineer includes knowledge of:
Technologies: Kubernetes, Postgres, MongoDB, Kafka or NATS, Redis, Kibana and APM, GitLab, DevOps and CI/CD, Ruby on Rails, Sinatra, and Sidekiq.
What You'll Do
You will lead a team of engineers as we grow and deliver new services. Previous team leadership or a leadership role is a plus. We welcome all applications that meet our initial requirements.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of your team, championing code quality, mentoring talent, and maintaining our national platform:
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning day-to-day leadership of a cross-functional product squad.
- Coaching, unblocking, and motivating 4-6 engineers to achieve development goals and foster a high-trust, feedback-rich culture.
- Championing coding standards, design patterns, security, and scalability; reviewing merge requests and participating in architectural decisions.
- Tracking progress, managing risks, and ensuring timely delivery of features meeting quality standards.
- Aligning with other team leads and architects to maintain consistency across products.
- Participating in hiring, conducting interviews, and onboarding new engineers to sustain team capacity and skill mix.
- Ensuring deliverables meet performance, security, and scalability targets before hand-off to production.
- Sharing knowledge with other engineers and leads across teams.
What You Have
Our ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:
- A bachelor’s or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related fields, or equivalent work experience.
- 6+ years of professional experience in backend development, focusing on building scalable and robust systems.
- Proficiency in Ruby, including experience with Microservices, message brokers/queues, Git, SQL databases, and frontend development with Angular (our current framework).
- Experience with open-source databases like PostgreSQL.
- Experience working with digital platforms is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex issues and implement solutions.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
