Responsibilities

· Supporting the development of financial controls and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Leading reviews with other functions to achieve streamlined integrated processes which meet overall business objectives.

· Managing the application of the financial controls in financial accounting processes.

· Managing the overall integrity of the financial accounting ledgers through the application of good financial controls.

· Controlling business balances with relevant external parties such as banks, HMRC and other taxation authorities and payroll bureaus.

· Managing compliance with the requirements of external parties such as HMRC and other taxation authorities, banking institutions and external auditors.

· Supporting the development of financial policies, processes and procedures to ensure the adoption of best practice and compliance to the Operational Framework.

· Managing the financial accounting transactions being undertaken in accordance with the finance policies, processes and procedures as well as the commercial and statutory requirements of the business e.g. the timely payment of suppliers and payments to taxation authorities.

· Supporting the provision of specialist financial accounting advice and to support the business on financial control issues.

· Maintaining a month end timetable and manage the month end close process

· Managing the provision of financial transaction processing that is accurate, efficient and in accordance with the financial control requirements

· Managing the financial ledgers being maintained in accordance with the business policies, processes and procedures

· Ensuring the business reconciles all general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.

· Managing the financial accounting for fixed assets to ensure the recognition, amortisation, disposal and review of physical verification and usable life are undertaken in accordance with the business policies, processes and procedures.

· Managing the bureau and non-bureau payroll services to ensure integrity of the payroll records, the payment to employees, the accurate financial accounting and the application of the established business policies, processes and procedures.

· Managing that cash resources are available to meet the business commitments through effective cash management.

· Managing the opening and closing of bank accounts in accordance with Group Treasury instructions.

· Managing bank account balances efficiently in accordance with Group Treasury instructions.

· Working with the business to ensure that they are aware of and manage potential foreign currency risk exposures.

· Managing the processes and systems for foreign currency risk exposures being maintained, accounted for and reported in accordance with Group Treasury requirements and applicable accounting standards.

· Maintaining the financial integrity of the financial accounting systems through the use of effective financial controls.

· Maintaining the financial accounting systems and to manage the financial accounting systems access rights.

· Maintaining the financial accounting systems for accurate information e.g. exchange rates and vendor bank details.

· Managing the financial accounting systems operate in accordance with the BAE Systems policies and the applicable accounting standards.

· Maintaining the financial accounting systems to support management and statutory reporting requirements.

· Supporting the development of financial accounting systems.

· Supporting the provision of advice and training to the business on the most efficient and effective use of the financial accounting systems.

· Supporting the timely and accurate provision of statutory financial reporting so that relevant legal entities are achieved

· Managing and reviewing indirect taxation (e.g. VAT) processes to achieve alignment to the cash management goals of the business.

· Providing accurate tax information for Group Tax and local Tax authority requirements on a timely basis.

· Undertaking taxation accounting and reporting in accordance with Group Tax and local Tax Authority requirements.

· Managing financial transactions (e.g. invoice processing, expense claims and timesheet recording) so that they are processed on a timely basis and in accordance with the business policies, processes and procedures.

· Managing the maintenance of applicable financial controls e.g. creditor statement reconciliations.

· Managing the timely resolution of issues to achieve the commercial and cash management goals of the business.

· Training, coaching and supporting the business in the correct application of policies, processes and procedures.

· Undertaking additional activities as necessary to support internal and external stakeholder requirements.

· Coaching and supporting own team and other employees on financial accounting related matters.

· Recruiting, training and developing employees to ensure that responsibilities are discharged in a professional manner.

Job Requirements:

· Fully qualified accountant. & will typically have a degree. Previous experience necessary in Financial Accounting, also some experience in financial planning and reporting, management and project accounting is preferable.
