The Global Events Marketing (GEM) team is seeking an enthusiastic event professional with an emphasis on EMEA Trade Shows to project manage and deliver industry trade shows and hosted events as assigned. You will represent Ciena, communicate key marketing messages and facilitate the execution of these events. On-site attendance of the event will be required. You will work on various events with many different stakeholders from Sales, Marketing and Corporate executives to deliver an exceptional experience for our internal and external customers, in line with our corporate and regional objectives and company values.
Overall Responsibilities
Event Strategy & Planning:
- Support the Global Event Marketing strategy through the management and execution of event logistics including:
- Continually monitor technology trade shows, evaluate and recommend potential trade show opportunities
- Coordination of stakeholder requirements & planning calls
- Reviewing sponsorship & exhibition opportunities to create event plans that support regional & corporate objectives
- Agency & supplier pricing and sponsorship management
- Document and continuously improve all event related processes
- Budget forecast, tracking and management
- End-to-end event project management to ensure maximum ROI is achieved
- Post event evaluation to drive strategic recommendations and improve effectiveness and efficiency of each event
Marketing Deliverables:
- Manage the coordination of all marketing deliverables such as pre & post show marketing communications, internal & external web pages, booth graphics, branded merchandise etc.
Event Logistics:
- Utilizing event planning tools and systems for meeting management, content creation, event lead management
- Hotel block management, catering, technical AV equipment, show services and shipping
- Coordinating onsite logistics such as booth setup, on-site management and dismantling
- Travel on site to manage and execute GEM trade shows as needed
Experience and About You
- Must have minimum 5 years professional experience planning and coordinating B2B trade shows and events with a demonstrated ability to engage effectively with users and stakeholders
- Collaborative and positive attitude with the ability to collaborate with cross functional teams and time-zones
- Must have strong written and verbal communications skills, be confident in presenting with the ability to influence and manage key internal and external stakeholders
- Energy, flexibility and aim to create real and measurable business results - align event goals and measurement of success with company business priorities
- Self-starter with outstanding organizational and project management abilities, keen attention to detail and approaching challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset
- Comfortability with multi-tasking and catering to various stakeholders requirements
- Work under pressure to meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment and ability to think on your feet
- Ability to reprioritize multiple projects as deadlines and objectives change
- A creative flair and a passion for events
- Experience with budget management
- Knowledge of SalesForce (SFDC) and Cvent preferred
- Knowledge of the technology industry is preferred
- Flexibility to travel – approximately 20% of the time
Qualifications (Not Essential)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Event Management (or related discipline such as Marketing or Hospitality) is considered an asset
- Diploma in Event Management / Planning is considered an asset (for example a CIM Accredited course or Diploma)
