Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a highly disciplined and experienced environmental consultant to join our office in Riyadh to help deliver high-level consultancy services.

The successful candidate's duties and responsibilities will include:

1. Project manage and author large-scale environmental, social and health impact assessments (ESHIA) and strategic environmental assessments (SEA), and oversee environmental monitoring and baseline survey projects for major infrastructure, energy, and industrial clients in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), with additional input in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iraq, and the wider region.
2. Support the environment team by providing guidance and mentoring to junior staff as needed.
3. Provide technical leadership, coordination, review, and direction on projects.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with clients and regulatory authorities.
5. Manage project financial performance and meet profit targets.
6. Prepare and manage multi-disciplinary tenders and seek new business opportunities.
7. Consult with stakeholders and effectively manage sub-consultants.
8. Willingness to travel within the region, including short missions to UAE and Iraq.

Desired experience includes:

1. BSc degree in a relevant environmental or engineering discipline (preferably chemical/environmental engineering).
2. Preference for MSc in environmental management, environmental technology, ESHIA, or related fields.
3. Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IEMA) and working towards chartered status.
4. Over 8 years of experience in environmental consulting, including permitting, monitoring, management planning, audits, modelling, and site assessments for energy, industrial, and infrastructure clients.
5. Experience working in an international consultancy, with Saudi Arabia or the Middle East preferred.
6. Thorough understanding of ESHIA processes, international legislation, standards (e.g., IFC, WB EHS), and project financing mechanisms.
7. Specialist knowledge in areas such as marine environment or waste management.
8. Experience in chairing or scribing environmental impact workshops.
9. Proven ability to provide technical solutions and negotiate with regulators.
10. Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
11. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
12. Strong project, time, and financial management skills.
13. Full driving license and willingness to travel.
