Job description

You as a Senior Contract Manager, will be part of Power Grids, Grid Integration (PGGI), HVDC business based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. With an analytical, hands-on, and autonomous approach, you contribute to the successful performance of Contract Management in the assigned project. You are a reliable partner in day-to-day contract administration and project execution, flow-down, and preparation of contracts or subcontracts, ensuring contract and risk management activities are timely and accurately executed to protect Hitachi Energy’s interests throughout the project lifecycle. Your responsibilities

  1. Ensuring that your assigned portfolio of contracts or specific projects follow contract and claim management methodologies in accordance with applicable procedures.
  2. Providing guidance and leadership on contract-related matters to cross-functional teams and developing contract strategies based on Hitachi Energy’s policies, customer requirements, and overall executing strategy, considering risk, pricing, scope, and schedule.
  3. Identifying the contract baseline, including terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimates, proposals, schedules, and other documents, highlighting opportunities and potential risks.
  4. Ensuring timely and accurate execution of commercial aspects in contracts or subcontracts, verifying that all parties fulfill their obligations, and responsibilities are clear.
  5. Assessing contract success and documenting lessons learned for future contracting, communicating deficiencies during the closeout process.
  6. Establishing and enforcing standard methodologies to identify, notify, enforce, or defend changes or claims.
  7. Supporting negotiation strategies and settlement processes, liaising with Hitachi Energy Legal for dispute resolution, litigation, and arbitration, and reporting major claims and critical developments.
  8. Supporting the drafting of Subcontracts and Supply Contracts, ensuring they contain appropriate terms to protect Hitachi Energy’s interests.
  9. Analyzing contract terms against project developments to proactively identify opportunities or risks, and seeking legal advice during negotiations.
  10. Developing and implementing risk mitigation and opportunity plans with relevant stakeholders.
  11. Ensuring adherence to insurance provisions within contracts and coordinating with Insurance Risk Management regarding coverage and damage reports.
  12. Seeking advice from Hitachi Energy export control to handle export restrictions and legal considerations.
  13. Living Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for actions and caring for colleagues and the business.

Your background

  1. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, business administration, economics, or law.
  2. Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in EPC project contract management within power transmission, substations, converter stations, grid integration, generation, or similar industrial plants.
  3. Successful experience managing various contractual agreements during project execution and closeout, including consortia agreements.
  4. Previous experience in Saudi energy and power transmission or grid projects, especially in change management, claims, and dispute resolution.
  5. Ability to interface and negotiate with customers and subcontractors on contract matters, including change reviews and processing.
  6. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
