Job description

JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment, and weapons.
BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is committed to supporting the Saudi Arabian National Agenda including Saudisation and the training and development of Saudi National capability through the growth of the Saudi National Partner Companies thereby reinforcing Industrialisation and Partnerships.
The post holder will manage the commercial activities of the line of business, ensuring that business success is maximised in line with agreed targets. They are to ensure all legally binding Company commitments are agreed in accordance with BAE Systems Saudi Arabia policies and procedures.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Manage and set objectives/review for a team of commercial staff.
  2. Produce a full range of contractual documentation for assigned areas in line with all relevant BAE Systems Saudi Arabia requirements and procedures.
  3. Lead or participate in contract/subcontract negotiations with all relevant parties to facilitate the smooth and successful conclusion of negotiations.
  4. Manage contracts/subcontracts, ensuring the efficient and effective resolution of issues.
  5. Actively support the development, co-ordination, and implementation of pricing and payment strategies and policies in assigned areas, in accordance with all relevant BAE Systems Saudi Arabia requirements and procedures.
  6. Actively support the development, co-ordination, and implementation of overall financial targets and budgetary management strategies in assigned areas.
  7. Manage potential areas of risk and carry out risk analyses and assessments to support the minimisation of risk.
  8. Build, manage, and maintain relationships with existing and potential customers to ensure the effective management of business agreements.
  9. Lead on the resolution of commercial issues to facilitate effective business decision-making.
  10. Lead regular reviews with suppliers to review relationship, current/future bids/opportunities and ensure that contracted obligations and agreed targets are achieved.
  11. Lead, develop, and motivate any assigned staff to ensure they are aware of and capable of delivering their responsibilities.
  12. Actively contribute to the development of the Functional Governance Manual and the Commercial Manual and communicate/implement them in assigned area to deliver strong governance and business effectiveness.
  13. Keep up to date with and research new commercial developments in assigned areas and assist in assessing their advantage to the company.
  14. Liaison with senior stakeholders within internal and external customer community.
  15. Manage interfaces with Finance, Legal, HR, and Group Tax to establish effective contracting and pricing models.
  16. Manage RBA activities.
  17. Lead Tender activities.
  18. Assessment/Production of Commercial plans in support of LCM.

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential

  1. Relevant Degree and extensive commercial experience.
  2. Experienced in developing key supplier relationships and strategies to meet the needs of the business and where appropriate aligning to wider BAE Systems strategies.
  3. Can resolve business inter-dependencies and issues with projects and functions across other BUs and BAE Systems entities in KSA.
  4. Extensive knowledge of business unit financial/commercial/procurement policies.
  5. A good working knowledge of the business unit approach to Life Cycle Management.
  6. A strong track record of contributing to the management of contractual issues.
  7. A thorough understanding and comprehension of Commercial Contracts & Law.
  8. Proven negotiating skills in a range of environments.
  9. Wide-ranging experience of dealing with domestic and international suppliers.
  10. Member or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply or accredited by the International Association for Contracts and Commercial Management (IACCM) or equivalent Customer approvals.
