Job description

Our client, a leading healthcare facility based in Saudi Arabia, is currently looking for a Senior Clinical Lab Technologist / Specialist in Chemistry.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing a wide variety of laboratory chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Scope

  • Working in the Clinical Laboratory Services Section / Medical & Technical Support Services department under the supervision of a Clinical Laboratory Technologist Specialist.
  • Handling infectious samples, examining microorganisms for medical purposes while adhering to safety measures to minimize hazards.
  • Rotating through various laboratory areas to familiarize with different procedures and tests, especially during shifts.
  • Performing a variety of clinical tests across different areas of specialization.

Maintaining daily contact with the triage/collection lab for specimen collection, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare workers such as infection control and epidemiology teams regarding results, questions, and concerns about specimens, communicable/reportable diseases, and laboratory reports.

Reporting to the Technical Supervisor.

  • Familiarity with Laboratory Interface System (LIS), daily Quality Control (QC), Calibration, and Preventive Maintenance (PM), along with basic troubleshooting of instruments.
  • Operation and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation as assigned.
  • Monitoring, recording waste, and managing inventory of supplies.
  • Performing and documenting quality control procedures for each test performed.
  • Understanding and applying QC guidelines effectively.
  • Performing and reporting internal and external proficiency testing following established guidelines.
  • Ensuring compliance with standards set by accrediting agencies such as CAP, JCI, AABB, and CBAHI.
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment according to standard laboratory practices and procedures.
