The opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Buyer responsible for obtaining goods/services required by the organization, including Indirect Operations (e.g., Office Supplies, Computers, Travel, Maintenance, Machine Parts, etc.) and Direct Operations (e.g., Raw Materials and Services for Manufacturing, Production, or Construction; Products for Retail, etc.). Procurement processes include Product/Service Sourcing, Supplier Selection, Pricing/Terms Negotiation, Order Processing, Contract Administration, and Supplier Performance Management. The role may also involve Strategic Sourcing.
The Senior Professional (P2) applies practical knowledge of the job area, typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. The role works independently with general supervision, handling difficult but not complex problems, and may influence others through the explanation of facts, policies, and practices.
How you’ll make an impact
Implement and support SCM practices such as Strategic Sourcing, Process & Excellence, Risk Management, Supply Base Management & Quality. Design and implement plans for local sources to meet business targets. Support regional and global sourcing initiatives and monitor performance using KPIs. Collaborate with Category Managers and Supplier Quality Engineers for supplier selection and development. Conduct SCM activities in accordance with policies and procedures, manage contracts, and support bid and proposal teams. Lead strategic sourcing activities for projects and new product development, leveraging continuous improvement processes. Manage supplier performance and relationships to ensure timely delivery, quality, and contractual compliance. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to secure material availability and uphold standards on health, safety, environment, and ethics, embodying Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity.
Your background
Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent work experience. Minimum 8 years of experience in Engineering, Purchasing, and Supply Chain Management. Strong communication, collaboration, and results-oriented skills. Flexibility to travel up to 15%. Preferred certifications include CPSM or PMP, with experience in SAP, Documentation Management Systems, Power BI, and Microsoft Office. Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
