Overview
We are seeking a Senior Archivist to join the Aramco Archive & Records Center (AARC).
The AARC's mission is to collect, preserve, and provide access to the company's historical and current activities, including documentation in various formats such as records, images, maps, photographs, and artifacts.
The Senior Archivist will lead initiatives to advance AARC's leadership in the sector by adopting emerging technologies, implementing professional standards, and fostering collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing projects related to archival processing and digitization.
- Appraising, selecting, arranging, and describing collections according to policies and professional standards.
- Leading digital asset ingestion with appropriate metadata standards.
- Promoting the archive through outreach activities and developing new audiences.
- Conducting research to support outreach and internal inquiries, and preparing related presentations.
- Ensuring data quality, integrity, and discoverability, and leading remedial actions as needed.
- Processing complex collections to international standards using relevant systems.
- Overseeing information governance compliance and conducting audits.
- Reviewing assets scheduled for destruction and transferring appropriate items to AARC.
- Creating control instruments like inventories and finding aids, and entering data into systems following standards.
- Reviewing and updating policies, procedures, and guidelines to support archiving services.
Education & Experience Requirements
Candidates should have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or Archives & Records Management; an advanced degree is a plus.
- At least 10 years of experience in an archive or library setting.
- Knowledge of archiving, records management, digitization, metadata schemas, and standards.
- Experience with Preservica and Axiell technologies.
- Arabic language proficiency is preferred.
- Certification as an Academy of Certified Archivists (ACA).
- Proven experience in historical research.
- Familiarity with the chemicals and energy industry is advantageous.
