Job description

ROLE PURPOSE

The aim is to state the overall significance of the job from the organization's perspective.

This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing data privacy and governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. It ensures data integrity, security, and compliance across the organization while working closely with data owners and key stakeholders.

- Data Privacy & Governance Strategy
- Develop and implement data privacy and governance strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure alignment with global and local data protection regulations such as GDPR, NDMO, and other relevant laws.
- Compliance & Regulatory Adherence
- Monitor compliance with data protection regulations and organizational policies.
- Conduct data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs) and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Data Security & Risk Management
- Monitor and audit data systems to ensure accuracy, security, and compliance.
- Collaborate with IT, security, and business teams to enforce data security measures.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Data Quality
- Work closely with data owners and stakeholders to improve data quality and integrity.
- Define roles and responsibilities related to data privacy and governance.
- Training & Awareness
- Provide training and guidance to employees on data privacy and governance best practices.
- Facilitate cross-functional team meetings to discuss and resolve data governance issues.
- Data Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain and document data governance processes, standards, and decisions.
- Assist in the design and implementation of data models and management systems.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Academic and professional qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Certifications (Preferred): CIPP, CIPM, CDMP, or similar data privacy/governance certifications.

Years and Nature of Experience

- 2-3 years of experience in data privacy, data governance, or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of data protection regulations and industry best practices.
- Experience with data governance tools, frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK), and risk assessments.
