Job Description

The incumbent is responsible for soliciting group business for the hotel, maximizing profits through creative and selective selling. Sales managers handle accounts for both boutique hotels and hotel chains, primarily focusing on closing sales with associations and conventions. Managing smaller accounts or individual patrons may be part of the role depending on the hotel size. A strong sales and hospitality background is essential, along with a passion for working with people to coordinate events.

Qualifications

Key tasks include:

  • Researching New Accounts: Identifying and reaching out to potential clients such as trade organizations, event planners, wedding parties, corporate groups, and local events. Staying informed about city events to capitalize on opportunities.
  • Closing Sales: Securing bookings by demonstrating hotel benefits, following up with clients, and understanding the competitive landscape to effectively close deals.

Maintaining Accounts: Building repeat business by ensuring client satisfaction, negotiating prices, rewarding loyalty, and addressing any issues to improve future events.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Inform employees and supervisors about important hotel events and news.
  • Prepare monthly reports as required.
  • Familiarize with all relevant documentation and operational standards.
