The client is looking to hire a Safety Officerfor their team at Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
The candidate will be responsible for promoting a safety-first culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and minimizing risks associated with electrical manufacturing and assembly operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety Compliance & Monitoring
- Enforce adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements (Factories Act, OSHA, etc.).
- Conduct routine safety inspections of the plant floor, panel assembly areas, testing zones, and storage units.
- Monitor the use of PPEs and enforce safety protocols among all staff and contract workers.
2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
- Identify potential hazards related to electrical panel fabrication, wiring, and machine operation.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and recommend control measures.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, or near-misses, and submit detailed reports with corrective actions.
3. Training & Awareness
- Organize safety training, toolbox talks, and emergency drills (fire, electrical safety, first aid).
- Educate employees on safe work practices, especially in high-risk zones like wiring/testing areas.
- Maintain up-to-date safety communication boards and signage.
4. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain records of safety audits, risk assessments, incidents, and compliance reports.
- Ensure MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) are available and updated for all chemicals and components used.
- Submit periodic safety reports to management.
5. Emergency Preparedness
- Ensure availability and proper functioning of firefighting equipment, alarms, and emergency exits.
- Develop and periodically review site emergency response plans.
- Coordinate with external emergency services when required.
Key Requirements:
- Education: Diploma/Degree in Industrial Safety / Fire & Safety / Engineering.
- Certifications: NEBOSH / IOSH / Fire Safety Certification (preferred).
- Experience: 0-2 years in a safety role within a manufacturing or electrical assembly environment.
- Knowledge:
- Familiarity with electrical hazards, EHS guidelines, and regulatory compliance.
- Understanding of ISO 45001 and other relevant safety standards.
- Experience with LOTO (Lockout-Tagout), machine guarding, and hazardous material handling.
Skills & Attributes:
- Excellent observation and incident analysis skills.
- Ability to train and influence employees on safety culture.
- Proficient in safety audit tools, MS Office, and report preparation.
- Strong communication skills and assertive personality.
Working Conditions:
- Plant-based role; must be comfortable working in production/shop floor environments.
