Meso Saudi Arabia is seeking a Safety Officer to join our team. You will ensure that the workforce operating at the client’s mine site complies with Metso’s safety procedures and the client’s HSE regulations. The Safety Officer will promote proactive safety practices, ensure compliance with client expectations, and foster a culture of continuous safety improvement. Performance will be measured using key safety metrics including CCV, LSR compliance, VFL engagement, and behavioral observations.

This position is located at a remote site in Saudi Arabia and involves working on a rotation basis.

You will join a team of safety and compliance experts dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of workplace safety.

What you’ll do:

  • Enforce Metso’s HSE policies and ensure full adherence to the client’s HSE standards, including Life-Saving Rules (LSRs).
  • Implement and track Critical Control Verification (CCV) for all high-risk activities.
  • Participate in daily HSE coordination meetings with the client and support joint inspections.
  • Monitor the site continuously for unsafe conditions, behaviors, or deviations from safety procedures.
  • Track and report safety KPIs including CCV compliance rate, LSR violations, VFL engagements, and safety observations.
  • Submit regular HSE reports reflecting performance against KPIs.
  • Deliver HSE inductions and toolbox talks to new workforce members and subcontractors.
  • Reinforce understanding of LSRs through briefings and scenario-based learning.
  • Promote awareness of CCV procedures and participate in coaching sessions and safety campaigns.
  • Lead and document JSAs, HIRAs, and PTWs for activities controlled by Metso.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts, conducting Root Cause Analysis and follow-up actions.
  • Ensure timely closure of action items from observations or audits.
  • Support VFL programs and safety interactions.
  • Coordinate emergency drills and verify emergency equipment functionality.
  • Serve as a key contact for emergency response coordination with the client.

Who you are:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a safety role within mining, construction, or heavy industry.
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
  • Experience working on client-controlled sites with LSR and CCV implementation.
  • Preferred experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT standards.
  • NEBOSH IGC or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and proactive in safety management.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to motivate others.
  • Positive attitude and high motivation.
  • Ability to work independently.
