Job description


Summary
Provides respiratory care as assigned. Serves as a resource to healthcare providers regarding technical and therapeutic aspects of Respiratory Care Services (RCS).

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Performs all basic RCS modalities under supervision of Respiratory Therapist on clinically stable patients, including oxygen therapy, non-invasive monitoring, patient assessment, bland aerosol delivery, medication delivery via SVN, and MDI with spacers.
  2. Performs chest physiotherapy (e.g., percussion, postural drainage, PEP mask, resistive devices, incentive spirometry).
  3. Performs non-invasive ventilation (CPAP and BiPAP) on clinically stable patients as assigned.
  4. Performs suctioning of intubated and non-intubated patients, routine tracheostomy changes.
  5. Assesses efficacy and patient's response to procedures, documenting findings in the medical records.
  6. Performs arterial blood sampling and analysis, blood gas acid-base determinations, co-oximetry, and Na+/K+ determinations.
  7. Participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency airway management according to protocols.
  8. Re-stocks ventilators at bedside, cleans, sterilizes, disassembles, and reassembles RCS equipment as assigned.
  9. Conducts routine maintenance of equipment and maintains RCS workroom supplies, including re-stocking Herman-Miller storage bins.
  10. Assists in maintaining the RCS equipment preventive maintenance schedule.
  11. Reports all results, issues, or problems related to patients or staff to the area therapist or supervisor.
  12. Assists in education, development, orientation of new employees, and student perception as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's or Associate Degree/Diploma in Respiratory Care or graduation from an accredited Saudi Respiratory Technician Program is required.

Experience Required

Grade 07: No experience with Bachelor's Degree, or two (2) years with Associate Degree/Diploma or equivalent accredited Saudi Respiratory Technician Program.

Grade 08: Four (4) years as a Respiratory Technician at KFSH&RC or related experience; an average performance appraisal score of at least 3.5 over the last four years; and fifty (50) hours of continued medical education (CME).

Other Requirements (Certificates)

  • Current registration from the country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
  • Respiratory Therapy Certification from the country of origin is preferred.
  • Certification in Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Advanced Life Support Course (ACLS) is preferred.
  • Endotracheal intubation training is preferred.
