Job description

Leverage your abilitiesand join the dynamic team of a Saudi Governmental entity.

They are seeking a Research Reactor Nuclear Safety Expert to support the regulatory oversight of research reactors. The expert will review safety documentation and commissioning plans, participate in inspections and safety evaluations, and support the licensing process. The role also involves sharing expertise with regulatory staff through training and technical discussions to help build national capacity.

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Key Accountabilities
  • Review and assess the reactor commissioning plan.
  • Participate in reviewing/assessing and inspections of non-nuclear and nuclear commissioning tests.
  • Evaluate reactor startup procedures and safety performance during commissioning.
  • Review and provide input on commissioning reports and test results.
  • Review and assess operation licensing documentation, including Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR), Operational Limits and Conditions, and other major safety documents.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

We are looking for:

  • Advanced degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in nuclear science/engineering within a nuclear safety context.
  • Extensive experience in nuclear safety, particularly in research reactors.
  • Familiarity with licensing and regulatory processes for nuclear power plants.
  • Strong technical background in reactor commissioning and operation.
  • Ability to mentor and train junior regulatory staff.
  • Knowledge of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) standards.
  • Proven experience in reviewing safety analysis reports and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience working with countries starting nuclear power programs.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to handle complex technical projects.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
