Hatch is currently seeking a Regional Rail Director for our Middle East operation based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will lead programs and pursuits with an elite team of multidisciplinary rail professionals focusing on Middle East projects. As with all our positions, this is an entrepreneurial role where you will leverage Hatch's expertise and our global team of over 1,000 rail specialists and 9,000 staff for your success.

Our ideal candidate will be a veteran of the rail industry with proven experience leading projects exceeding $50 million in capital value and winning pursuits of similar size in the Gulf States and the wider Middle East region. Domain knowledge is important, but interpersonal skills are equally critical, as client interaction is key to success. The candidate should be a trusted advisor and partner to clients and contractors alike, with trust and follow-through being paramount.

Typical duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Identify pursuits, develop win strategies, build winning teams, and secure work.
  2. Collaborate with the Global Rail Leadership team to build the practice.
  3. Develop and manage major technical programs, including scope, schedule, and budget control.
  4. Organize, manage, and motivate staff to achieve program objectives.
  5. Manage owner and stakeholder interests.
  6. Present ideas, concepts, and details to owners, contractors, and others.
  7. Coordinate and build partnerships internally within Hatch and externally with partners to achieve goals.
  8. Review work of others and provide detailed, constructive feedback professionally.
  9. Promote Hatch through industry interactions and develop opportunities for new work.
Requirements

The qualified candidate will possess the following core competencies and experience:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  2. Master's degree in Engineering is preferred.
  3. Professional Engineering License and PMP certification are strongly preferred.
  4. Fifteen (15) years of experience in rail infrastructure, vehicles, signaling, or systems integration industries, with at least five (5) years working in the Middle East.
  5. Proven experience in securing work exceeding $5 million annually as a proposal leader.
  6. Eight (8) or more years and three (3) different projects managing multidisciplinary systems projects over $50 million in capital value.
  7. Experience in specification development, engineering procedures, standards, financial management, and estimating.
  8. Knowledge of railway operations, system safety, RAMS, and related requirements.
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing.
  10. Experience in training, mentoring, staff development, and client education.
