AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers, including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, ensuring continual access to innovation for our customers. We work on complex problems with numerous variables impacting the supply chain and seek talented individuals to join us.

Key job responsibilities

The Regional Environmental Engineer (REE) will oversee environmental compliance at AWS data centers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Responsibilities include developing standards and policies for regulatory compliance, providing guidance to regional teams, analyzing environmental performance, establishing metrics, and working with government and internal stakeholders. The role is based in Jeddah, with regular domestic and occasional international travel.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong knowledge of Saudi Arabia's environmental regulations, success in program management, and experience leading technical projects. We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds, including non-traditional educational paths and career changers.

Responsibilities :

  • Manage compliance with environmental regulations and Amazon policies.
  • Develop regional programs integrating engineering, construction, and operations; promote an environmentally responsible culture.
  • Lead interactions with regulatory agencies, permit processes, and new technology adoption.
  • Ensure contractor and employee work adheres to Amazon standards.
  • Create and monitor environmental metrics for performance tracking.
  • Conduct environmental audits for continuous improvement.
  • Manage multiple complex projects concurrently.
  • Represent Amazon with government agencies and internally.
  • Build stakeholder relationships to identify and manage risks.
  • Prepare regulatory reports and incident investigations with corrective actions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering, or related field
  • Experience as an environmental resource, program specialist, or manager
  • Knowledge of Saudi Arabia's environmental regulations, assessments, and reporting
  • Experience leading change across multiple sites and influencing without direct authority
  • Fluent in Arabic (written and spoken)
