Quantity Surveyor/Estimator - Mechanical

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Estimator in the Mechanical Engineering field to join our team. In this position, you will carry out material and price estimations enabling the submission of commercial proposals to clients and facilitating raw material purchases for ongoing projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out pricing and estimation based on a detailed pricing strategy in line with company objectives and guidelines.
  • Carry out material estimation required for both project pricing and procurement of raw material for ongoing projects.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings, tender documents, bid packages, and specifications.
  • Prepare detailed bill of material (BOM) based on fabrication drawings for ongoing projects to be released for procurement of raw material.
  • Prepare and update material status and procurement schedule.
  • Evaluate quotations from suppliers and ensure quantities and specifications are in line with project specifications.
  • Prepare quotations for clients and ensure quantities and specifications are in line with tender and project specifications.
  • Minimize the cost of a project while achieving the required standards and quality objectives by optimizing material selection with possible alternatives.
  • Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance work.
  • Evaluate subcontractor claims and variations.
  • Be familiar with commercially available steel sections such as steel plates, I Beams, channels, angles, etc., and their applicable conformance to ASTM, JIS, DIN, EN standards.
  • Ability to go through standards and find compatibility for the job.
  • Verify site measurements and gather sufficient information required to carry out pricing and subsequent forwarding of the site information to the design department for preparation of pre-submittal design drawings.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide necessary detailed backup to support commercial tracking and costing for ongoing projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Quantity Surveying or Mechanical Engineering
  • Technical and practical knowledge of all phases of contract development, award, administration, and close-out relating to multi-discipline civil/construction projects.
  • Capability to accept responsibilities and accomplish project objectives in a timely manner.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills and strong English capability.
