Job description

Quality Engineer Required Mechanical & Electrical Background

The basic role of the Quality Engineer is to provide technical support and direction for all quality activities (including reporting) performed by CONTRACTOR’s Inspectors for COMPANY’s projects.

1.2 Scope

The Engineer will ensure all CONTRACTOR’s Quality Management activities and reports are in compliance with WER Quality requirements, using good knowledge of COMPANY engineering requirements, standards, procedures, specifications, and Schedule “Q” of the project’s Construction Contractors’ contract. The Engineer will provide specialized training to others as required. Duties may require physical exertion, working outdoors, confined spaces, high elevations, and remote work locations (on and offshore).

(a) Support all aspects of Quality Management, including Inspection.

(b) Provide technical support to Purchasing and Project Management in resolving problems concerning inspection methods and procedures for completing WORK within the scope and intent of applicable codes and standards.

(c) Keep current with the latest developments in inspection standards, codes, practices, procedures, methods, and inspection equipment.

(d) Ensure that all WORK is completed according to all applicable codes and standards and in accordance with the WER quality and inspection requirements.

(e) Review/evaluate CONTRACTOR's quality assurance/quality control systems as necessary, and ensure Inspection Records (hard copy and electronic databases) are compiled and maintained.

(f) Perform root cause analysis, assessments, and recommend short and/or long-term remedies.

(g) Make frequent visits to construction sites to resolve inspection-related problems or appraise the adequacy of inspection services provided.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or higher engineering degree.
  • At least two (2) years of continuous employment with CONTRACTOR.
  • Five (5) years of inspection experience with a minimum of two (2) years’ inspection supervision.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable US Codes, construction and maintenance procedures, and material testing procedures.
  • Confirmed full working knowledge of quality system standards and methods (ISO 9001).
  • Fluent command of the English language (spoken and written).
