Job Description

Brief Description:

The QC Inspector I is responsible for conducting final and in-process inspections of PDC drill bits and related components to ensure adherence to Ulterra Arabia’s quality standards. This position includes performing dimensional inspections, non-destructive testing, equipment calibration coordination, and technical support tasks. The QC Inspector reports to the Quality Officer in KSA and is expected to maintain strict compliance with inspection protocols and documentation procedures.

Detailed Description

  • Perform Final Inspection of PDC Drill Bits to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Conduct Receiving Inspections on incoming components and raw materials.
  • Carry out in-process inspections to support machining and assembly operations.
  • Execute non-destructive testing (NDT) methods including Liquid Penetrant (LP), Magnetic Particle (MP), and Pressure Testing.
  • Ensure proper control and documentation of all measuring, monitoring, and testing equipment in accordance with Ulterra’s quality procedures.
  • Coordinate external calibration of equipment in collaboration with the Quality Officer.
  • Identify and propose improvements to Quality Control processes.
  • Assist with other inspection-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to focus on repetitive inspection tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, inspection procedures, and traveler documents.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools, including dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
  • Capable of conducting detailed visual and dimensional inspections of machined components.
  • Familiarity with rotary shouldered connections (RSC) inspection is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment with shifting priorities.
  • Must be able to work overtime when required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1+ years of related experience in quality control performing detailed visual and dimensional inspections and reading requirements from engineering drawings.
  • Ability to pass a visual acuity test and color contrast test, with or without corrective lenses.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a quality inspection or similar technical role.
  • Experience in drill stem or tool inspections of rotary shouldered connections (RSC)
  • Previous work with PDC drill bit inspections.

Additional Details

The QC Inspector I must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. The typical work environment will be in the shop or field which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles.
