Job description

QA Inspector (Metrology / Calibration)

Salary: Competitive

Job Purpose

BAE Systems, the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements, provides equipment, support, and training to the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF). This role involves ensuring that maintenance activities at the Secondary Calibration Squadron, KAAB (King Abdul Aziz Airbase), Dhahran, comply with RSAF Instruction 4-7702. The inspector will verify adherence to regulations during incoming and outgoing inspections.


Job Accountabilities
  1. Inspect incoming TMDE for damage or deficiency.
  2. Audit outgoing production for correct certification, documentation, safety, packaging, and appearance.
  3. Monitor technician quality levels through quality verification inspections (QVI’s).
  4. Perform over-the-shoulder (OTS) evaluations to verify processes and procedures are valid and current.
  5. Monitor environmental conditions during calibration activities.
  6. Coordinate building maintenance activities as the focal point.
  7. Prepare audit and discrepancy reports related to MetCal activities.
  8. Assist in managing the Technical Library.
  9. Recommend improvements to MetCal management to enhance organization, resources, or procedures.
Recruitment Specification
  1. Completed formal training in calibration, repair, and alignment of TMDE.
  2. Extensive practical experience as a Calibration Technician, Supervisor, Instructor, or QA Inspector.
  3. Familiar with RSAF Instruction 4-7702, RSAF Metrology Program, and RSAF Safety Manuals 78-series; knowledge of RSAF Manual 67-1 and supply system is advantageous.
  4. Educational qualification of at least Ordinary National Certificate level or equivalent, or substantial relevant work experience.
  5. Ability to compile reports and correspondence.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and willing to undertake further training.
  7. Organized with good workload prioritization skills.
  8. Effective communication skills with all levels of staff.
  9. High personal integrity and tactful handling of personnel issues.
  10. Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 standards is advantageous.
