About the job Public Realm and Landscape Manager

General Description of Role and Responsibilities:

The Landscape and Public Realm Manager will oversee the planning, design, coordination, and execution of the landscape and public realm components for a large-scale master plan development, along with associated infrastructure, parks, streetscapes, and public amenities. The role ensures compliance with Client vision, urban design standards, sustainability goals, and local municipal regulations while managing interfaces with various disciplines, including roads, utilities, lighting, wayfinding, and public amenities. The role involves advising the client on best practices, design enhancements, and strategic decision-making to optimize landscape and public realm outcomes.

Job Description:

• Oversee and coordinate the development of the Detailed Design and layouts for Public Realm and Landscape in collaboration with infrastructure, earthworks, irrigation, site lighting, signage, safety, and security teams.
• Ensure the final Public Realm and Landscape Design aligns with project requirements, Saudi regulations, and international codes including open space hierarchy, park boundaries, and circulation patterns for pedestrian and emergency vehicle access.
• Review and validate hardscape and softscape designs, including horizontal and vertical layouts, grading, furniture, fixtures, and landscape irrigation systems, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, fire life safety, and accessibility codes.
• Ensure the final landscape specifications comply with Mostadam sustainability requirements and municipal regulations (MOMRAH).
• Validate detailed hardscape and softscape drawings, schedules, and material palettes.
• Ensure planting compositions are developed in accordance with climatic and maintenance considerations.
• Oversee irrigation system designs, ensuring water efficiency and coordination with infrastructure networks.
• Manage public realm lighting strategies, including control systems, safety illumination, and energy-efficient designs.
• Expert in Saudi codes and regulations to liaise with municipal authorities (MOMRAH) and any relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance with urban planning and public realm regulations.
• Work closely with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to resolve design issues and ensure constructability.
• Review material submittals and vendor proposals for compliance with project specifications and quality requirements.
• Oversee the implementation of landscape and public realm elements during construction, ensuring alignment with the approved design.
• Conduct site inspections to verify workmanship, material quality, and compliance with sustainability standards.
• Offer insights on benchmarking against international best practices for community-scale public realm design.
• Support the client in decision-making related to design decisions, budget optimization, value engineering, and lifecycle cost analysis for landscape and public realm investments.
• Ensure all documentation, including final landscape specifications, as-built drawings, and maintenance plans, is prepared for project handover.
• Oversee the design and integration of community parks, playgrounds, and recreational spaces within the master plan.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in landscape and public realm management within large-scale developments.
• Strong expertise in urban landscape planning, green infrastructure, and sustainable design.
• Experience in managing design and build (D&B) projects and working within a PMC environment.
• Familiarity with MOMRAH regulations, Saudi regulations and codes, Mostadam sustainability standards, and urban design principles.
• Proficient in design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, BIM) and project management tools.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple disciplines and contractors.
