About the Role

The Projects Sales Engineer is responsible for managing Draeger’s project business with EPCs (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction companies) and local contractors. This role focuses primarily on Fixed Gas Detection Systems within the Safety Division and involves handling projects from purchase order (PO) through to delivery, including design, execution, and compliance testing phases. The role demands close coordination with EPCs and major operators to develop Fire & Gas (F&G) Systems tailored to client specifications.

Objective of the Role:

  • Understand customer needs and align product offerings accordingly.
  • Provide technical expertise and support throughout the sales process.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and deliver compelling presentations.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify and qualify sales opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to enhance satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Contribute to sales strategies, pricing, and contract negotiations with technical input.
  • Proactively sell Dräger products and solutions.
  • Define project specifications and schedules based on designs and customer requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, coordinate activities, and resolve issues.
  • Prepare technical documentation and proposals for Fire & Gas systems.
  • Conduct FATS, SATS, and commissioning activities, including client site visits.
  • Assist Technical Service engineers when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations to maintain product and company reputation.
  • Participate actively in meetings and document project communications and minutes.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Understand Draeger product/service’s technical features, functionalities, and benefits.
  • Study customer needs, pain points and business challenges and create a customized sales proposal, mainly to EPC Contractors.
  • Conduct product demonstrations to showcase key features and functionalities and address technical questions and concerns from customers.
  • Provide pre-sales support by answering technical inquiries and participating in sales meetings.
  • Liaise with the engineering or technical team to address technical concerns or requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather technical requirements and ensure the successful implementation of solutions.
  • Provide post-sales support to customers, including technical troubleshooting, ensuring their satisfaction with the Draeger Products.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics and competitor offerings.
  • Coordinate ‘problem solving’ issues for the customer / Dräger e.g., order confirmation, invoicing, delivery, and service requirements.
  • Coordinate customer needs such as requests for documentation and offers, clarification and acceptance of terms, and settlement of orders.
  • Understand project requirements via RFQ/RFP from EPC contractors and prepare techno-commercial proposals as per Draeger sales process.
  • Prepare compliance sheets, deviation sheets, and instrument specification sheets as per RFQ/RFP requirements.
  • Prepare bill of materials.
  • Maintain Sales Funnel in Microsoft CRM tool and update visit reports regularly.
  • Utilize project databases to track projects and serve as regional system center point of contact.
  • Prepare techno-commercial proposals for GDS systems and sampling systems.
  • Manage post-order project requirements, FAT, and IFAT arrangements with customers, including witness and inspection activities.
  • Handle QA/QC inspections related to projects.
  • Manage portal for technical submittals.

Project Management role:

  • Lead kick-off meetings and coordinate manufacturing and delivery schedules.
  • Manage sub-order releases and project delivery expediting with supply chain.

Project Documentation:

  • Prepare client-specific post-order documentation.
  • Attend remote client meetings for technical clarifications.
  • Arrange and witness FAT with customers and Draeger Lubeck.
  • Manage inspection release notes and related documentation.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project sales, preferably in fire and gas systems industry.

Knowledge and Competencies:

  • Strong negotiation and sales skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and engineering documentation.
  • Technical expertise in Fire and Gas Detection Systems.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and adapt to fast-paced environments.
  • Skilled in project documentation, regulatory compliance, and QA/QC processes.
