We are seeking a talented and experienced Project Engineer (Mechanical) to join our diverse team in Kuwait. The role involves leading and overseeing all mechanical engineering activities for internal projects at Kuwait Steel, ensuring project design aligns with scope, schedule, cost, and quality parameters within the Projects and Engineering and Facilities Management Department.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Evaluating project requests from Kuwait Steel clients to determine scope, feasibility, and resource needs.
- Managing the development of project scope after feasibility confirmation and converting requests into external contractor service requests.
- Developing conceptual and detailed mechanical designs, specifying materials and equipment considering quality and compatibility.
- Securing internal approval for project scope before proceeding with RFQ processes.
- Managing RFQ phases, technical adjudication, and documentation of project phases.
- Supporting procurement, project control, and close-out activities, including invoicing.
- Monitoring project execution, quality, and safety on-site.
- Promoting a safe and engaging workplace, conducting performance appraisals, and developing KPIs.
- Providing technical input for project schedules and reviewing contractor variation orders.
- Reviewing and approving all mechanical and general layout drawings and as-built documents.
- Contributing to Kuwait Steel’s safety culture and ensuring compliance with HSE policies.
- Participating in safety audits, incident reporting, and safety communication.
- Developing and issuing safe work permits and providing project updates and reports.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10-15+ years of experience in heavy industry mechanical engineering design and project management.
- GCC experience is optional but preferred.
- Proficiency in developing technical scopes for industrial projects.
