Job description

Job Description
Job Summary:

The Project Manager - Steel Structure will be responsible for leading the design, construction, and implementation of steel structure projects from conception to completion. The role demands a strategic leader with strong project management experience in the steel fabrication and construction industry, ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning & Coordination:

A project manager's primary responsibility is to plan the project comprehensively. Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of projects involving both steel structure and road infrastructure elements. Create detailed project plans, including defining project scope, timeline, cost estimates, resource requirements, and identifying potential risks. Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines.

  • Budget Management:

Project managers must also keep a project within its financial constraints. Develop, manage, and monitor project budgets, ensuring expenditures remain within the approved budget. Oversee cost management processes, including procurement, materials, and subcontractor payments. Track and report on project financials, including cost estimates, actual expenses, and forecasts for stakeholders. The project's financial health is key to maintaining transparency and managing expectations.
Quality Control & Safety Compliance:

Ensure that the design, fabrication, and construction of steel structures and road infrastructure meet industry standards, client specifications, and safety regulations. Conduct regular quality checks, site inspections, and audits to ensure adherence to project specifications, construction codes, and safety standards. Implement proactive safety measures, ensuring all workers comply with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.

  • Team Leadership & Supervision:

Lead, manage, and mentor project teams, including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring productivity and clear communication throughout the project. Conduct regular project meetings to assess progress, address issues, and keep the project on track. Supervise on-site activities, ensuring tasks are being carried out according to the project schedule and with high quality.

  • Stakeholder Communication

Effective communication is a cornerstone of project management. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring consistent communication regarding project progress, potential issues, and solutions. Collaborate with various stakeholders, including local authorities, engineering consultants, and architects, to ensure all project aspects align with regulatory and design requirements. Maintain and strengthen relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and contractors.

  • Documentation

Every project requires thorough documentation. Project managers are responsible for keeping detailed records of all project elements, such as contracts, plans, financial statements, and communications. Effective documentation aids in maintaining project continuity, ensuring compliance, and providing a valuable resource for future projects.
Compliance and Regulatory Adherence

Depending on the industry, project managers may also need to ensure that the project adheres to relevant laws, regulations, and standards. This is particularly important in healthcare, construction, and financial services, where regulatory compliance is tightly controlled.
Risk Management & Problem Solving:

Identify potential project risks related to design, schedule, resources, and safety, and proactively address them through mitigation strategies. Resolve project issues efficiently, including technical, operational, and communication-related challenges. This proactive approach helps avoid delays and ensures smooth project execution.

Requirements
  • Education:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Structural Engineering, or related field.

Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED, or PE) are a plus.

  • Experience:

Minimum of 10+ years of experience in project management in the construction industry, with a focus on steel structures, building construction, and road infrastructure.

Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects, particularly in steel construction and roadworks.

Extensive experience in budget management, cost control, and resource management in large-scale construction projects.

  • Technical Skills:

Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Procore).

Strong knowledge of steel fabrication, structural engineering, and road construction techniques.

Familiarity with AutoCAD, BIM, or similar design software.

  • Skills & Abilities:

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.

Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.

In-depth knowledge of local building codes, construction standards, and safety regulations related to steel structure and road infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in Project Management (PMP, Prince2) or a relevant structural engineering certification (PE).

Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams across different construction domains.

Familiarity with advanced technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) and 3D modeling for construction.
