The opportunity
This role is responsible for primary engineering of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), actively contributing to reducing lead time and cost of the GIS solution by developing solutions that meet project technical requirements and ensuring the quality of deliverables as a top priority.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Provide technical support for tendering and execution of customer projects, including preparation of primary drawings and bill of quantities for engineered items of Gas Insulated Switchgears.
- Serve as the technical lead for substations, managing and leading all engineering activities of the project.
- Prepare specifications, review supplier offers, and coordinate with supply chain management for procurement of materials, equipment, and services.
- Lead and participate in discussions with customers, handle site queries, and take necessary actions.
- Assist apprentices, entry-level engineers, technicians, and support teams with design questions, review deliverables before submission to clients, and prepare technical documents for procurement of current and voltage transformers.
- Participate in customer meetings, actively engage in project review meetings, and adhere to the project plan to ensure on-time delivery.
- Focus on optimized solutions that benefit both the customer and HAPG, interfacing with civil, steel, and application engineers on systems or solutions from Hitachi Energy or EPC companies.

Your background
- A bachelor’s degree or 3-year diploma in electrical engineering or relevant industry experience is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant GIS experience.
- Hands-on experience with 3D tools like ProE/CREO, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
- Knowledge of relevant international standards such as IEC/ANSI and high voltage GIS products.
- Experience in preparing GIS layouts for various voltage levels and understanding variances and how to minimize them in design.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
