Job Description:
Parsons is looking for a technically competent and detail-oriented Project Engineer - Wastewater & Stormwater (Infrastructure Focus) to join our team! In this role you will manage and oversee the design coordination, execution, and quality of stormwater drainage and wastewater systems within our airfield/airport development project.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in civil infrastructure, with specific experience in utility systems, hydrology, and underground networks. This role is critical to ensuring the effective implementation of sustainable drainage solutions, compliance with regulatory standards, and coordination across multiple engineering disciplines.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Review and interpret designs and drawings related to stormwater and wastewater infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, international codes (e.g., FAA/ICAO), and project requirements.
- Coordinate with design consultants, CAD teams, and other disciplines to resolve design clashes or modifications.
- Oversee the execution of stormwater and wastewater networks, including manholes, pipelines, culverts, and pumping stations.
- Monitor workmanship, materials, and installation methods to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate inspections, testing (e.g., hydrostatic, infiltration tests), and approvals with QA/QC and relevant authorities.
- Track progress of utility installations against project schedules and ensure timely completion of underground works.
- Identify delays or obstructions and develop mitigation strategies with site teams.
- Prepare and submit daily/weekly progress reports and field updates.
- Ensure that all wastewater and drainage works are in compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in preparing and submitting method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-work documents.
- Maintain accurate as-built records and support close-out documentation.
- Liaise with other infrastructure teams (roads, electrical, communications, etc.) to coordinate utility corridors and avoid conflicts.
- Interface with local utilities and government agencies for inspections and approvals.
- Support coordination with subcontractors to ensure alignment with project deliverables.
- Resolve field-level engineering challenges, including alignment conflicts, utility clashes, or unexpected ground conditions.
- Propose technical solutions to improve constructability, reduce cost, or accelerate execution timelines.
- Provide feedback to the design team based on site realities and constructability reviews.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
- 10 years of relevant experience in infrastructure projects, with a specific focus on wastewater and stormwater systems.
- Experience in airport, airfield, or large infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of stormwater management, wastewater collection systems, and hydrological analysis.
- Familiarity with pipe networks, gravity and pressurized systems, pumping stations, and related civil works.
- Proficient in engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., StormCAD, SewerCAD).
- Solid knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., FAA, ICAO, ASTM, AASHTO, or local municipal codes).
- Strong written and verbal communication, report writing, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working on airside infrastructure and interfacing with aviation operations.
- Knowledge of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and environmental impact considerations.
- Experience in trenchless installation techniques (e.g., HDD, microtunneling).
- Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH) and awareness of utility safety protocols.
- Familiarity with GIS systems and digital asset management tools.
- Ability to lead junior engineers and subcontractor coordination.
