Job Description

The Project Cargo District Manager is responsible for supporting, developing, implementing, and growing the product within the geographic area of responsibility. This includes coordinating with local operation departments and the Central Pricing & Support Team for Special Cargo Movements (SCM) & Project Tenders.

  1. Identify and engage new business targets in the Project Forwarding industry.
  2. Initiate and sustain service provider relationships.
  3. Explore improvement opportunities regarding Project Cargo and communicate with Product Management.
  4. Engage GEO leadership for continued support.
  5. Report monthly progress to District Manager on quote status, revenue, and business development.
  6. Counsel and mentor staff to ensure professional and branch development.
  7. Grow the Project Cargo business within the district.
  8. Source, initiate, and attend meetings with local vendors.
  9. Assist in creating a Project Cargo Tariff for repetitive services like surveys, port handling, cargo, customs, etc.
  10. Maintain ownership of all Project enquiries.
  11. Execute and coordinate RFQs with customers and Service Providers.
  12. Manage all documentation related to projects.
  13. Support overseas requests promptly.
  14. Attend workshops, conferences, and meetings as required.
  15. Travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  16. Train staff on Project Cargo best practices and industry trends.
  17. Complete at least 52 hours of self-development training annually.
  18. Adhere to all Health and Safety procedures.
  19. Ensure proper tracking of shipments in our systems using the PRJ Service Type.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of 5 years of project-related experience.
  2. 7+ years handling over-dimensional loads via land, barge, rail, air, and ocean modes of transport or storage.
  3. Established network of Project industry contacts.
  4. Diplomacy and commercial awareness.
  5. Understanding of regional geography and politics.
  6. Knowledge of governmental regulations regarding project movement.
  7. Familiarity with operational process standards and procedures within the Project industry.
  8. Knowledge of permits, import/export regulations, applications, and procedures including surveys.
