The Program Manager oversees multiple related projects to achieve a strategic objective. Define the program vision, develops the business case, and create a management plan. Responsibilities include stakeholder engagement, governance, team leadership, and benefits realization. The Program Manager plays a key role in driving program success by prioritizing projects and optimizing resources
Roles and Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning
Define the overarching program vision, goals, and roadmap
Create a program management plan covering scope, schedule, resources, risks, and governance
Determine interdependencies between projects and sequence workstreams logically
Prepare project execution plan, project charter, and project schedule
Stakeholder Engagement
Identify key stakeholders both internal (e.g., project managers, functional leaders) and external (vendors, partners)
Set clear expectations among sponsors, steering committees, and project teams
Communicate program status, milestones, issues, and change requests effectively across stakeholders
Manage stakeholder interests and resolve conflicts
Conduct meetings with the client as and when required, i.e., kick-off, status updates, etc.
Resource Management and Allocation
Allocate resources effectively across projects within the program
Review and approve project resource hiring requests
Monitor resource utilization and adjust allocations as necessary
Ensure that the project/program has the right mix of skills and expertise to meet project requirements
Program Governance and Oversight
Define the program governance framework, including steering committee meetings, status reporting, change control processes, etc.
Provide consolidated reporting and analysis on schedule, budget, scope performance
Identify program-level risks and implement mitigation strategies
Lead program change control and incorporate alterations from projects
Special Projects
Lead, manage, and execute the specific projects/ tasks assigned by the management from time to time as per business needs, within the allocated time frame
Coaching and Mentoring
Coach, mentor and guide the team and help them realise their potential
Conduct periodic performance reviews and provide developmental inputs as required
MIS & Reporting
Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate departmental statements and reports to meet 2P and department requirements, policies, and standards
Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
At least 7 years of experience in project/program management, with a track record of successfully delivering projects
Preferred project management professional (PMP) or portfolio management professional certification
