Job Purpose:
The Procurement Expeditor is responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of purchased materials, equipment, and services. This role involves close coordination with suppliers and internal departments to track purchase orders, resolve delivery issues, and maintain accurate records, helping minimize delays that could impact project schedules or production timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify material and equipment requirements based on technical specifications and project schedules.
- Place and manage purchase orders to meet project deadlines.
- Coordinate and expedite deliveries, ensuring timely arrival of goods based on priority and specifications.
- Resolve delivery or supplier-related issues to avoid delays.
- Arrange and monitor material movements between sites and storage locations.
- Maintain close communication with suppliers, vendors, and logistics providers throughout the procurement and shipping process.
- Ensure accurate documentation and records, including ERP updates, supplier confirmations, and shipment tracking.
- Verify supplier information such as banking details, contacts, and collection addresses.
- Run price comparisons and assist in supplier selection and finalization.
- Manage duty exemption approvals and facilitate customs clearance and port/airport logistics.
- Coordinate with internal departments (warehouse, fleet, logistics, finance) to ensure smooth end-to-end material handling.
- Proactively escalate potential delays or shipment issues to management.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the line manager.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in procurement, expediting, or logistics coordination.
- Experience in a project-driven or manufacturing environment is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure in fast-paced environments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Incoterms and international shipping processes.
- Knowledge of industry-specific procurement and expediting procedures (e.g., in oil & gas, construction, etc.).
