Job Summary:

The Procurement Engineer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services while ensuring compliance with technical, quality, and commercial requirements. This role involves vendor management, contract negotiation, cost optimization, and risk mitigation to support operational efficiency and project timelines. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, negotiation skills, and supply chain expertise to drive procurement excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research to identify and assess potential vendors based on technical, quality, and commercial requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, addressing concerns and fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Evaluate vendors on quality, reliability, pricing, delivery capabilities, and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure adherence to contractual terms and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and tender documents.
  • Analyze vendor proposals, conduct cost comparisons, and negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts.
  • Issue Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Expedite deliveries when necessary to meet project deadlines and operational needs.
  • Verify that received goods/services meet technical specifications, quality standards, and contractual agreements.
  • Work with Quality Assurance (QA) teams to resolve defects or non-conformities with suppliers.
  • Ensure vendors comply with ethical, legal, and environmental standards (e.g., anti-corruption, labor laws, sustainability).
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks (e.g., delays, shortages, financial instability).
  • Develop contingency plans for critical procurement items.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing and supplier consolidation.
  • Maintain accurate records of contracts, POs, vendor communications, and performance metrics.
  • Generate reports on procurement activities, cost savings, vendor performance, and compliance.
  • Provide feedback to vendors for continuous improvement in quality and service.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and finance teams to align procurement with business goals.
  • Stay updated on market trends, new technologies, and industry best practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain, preferably in engineering/technical industries (oil & gas, construction, manufacturing, etc.).
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CSCP, PMP) are a plus.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and procurement software.
  • Strong understanding of technical specifications, material standards, and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of contract law, Incoterms, and international procurement.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects.
  • High ethical standards and attention to detail.
